Here's an idea from the 1950s that doesn't seem to have taken off. A QUIK-SHOT soldering iron, which heats up by use of a cartridge. You would place a cartridge in the copper tip, pull back the spring rod in the handle, release, and in ten seconds you have a hot iron. According to the instruction sheet, it maintains soldering temperature for 6 to 8 minutes. The soldering iron is in new condition, but there is some corrosion to the spring rod handle. This auction is for the iron, which has never been used, the instruction sheet, a jobbers cost sheet, the little advertising sheet, and the original box. All the paperwork is in very good, though dirty and brittle, condition, and the box is coming apart as we speak, but the label is good and still intact. Betcha' don't have one of these in your tool collection, and I seriously doubt any of your friends do, either. I invite questions and comments.
