Handmade with pride by craftsmen in India, who know what these historical knives are supposed to be! This style of knife is (and was) a warring and defense weapon generally used by the Sikh's, who are disciples of a monotheistic religion founded by Guru Nanak (1469-1539 C.E.), that is noted for it's rejection of idolatry and caste. The British found during their later occupation of India that Sikh's were brave and loyal fighters beyond question, often rivaling the famous Gurkha regiments. Entirely made of polished, high carbon forged steel. The blade has fullers (grooves) that yields lighter weight but adds stiffness to the blade. Blade edges are NOT sharpened, but will take good, sharp edges if you want to put them on or have them put on by a sharpening shop. (Hint: we also sell sharpeners - see out other listings!) Wooden scabbard with genuine leather covering and polished metal tip and throat pieces. Measures 19 & 1/2 inches long overall! Most other knives of this type listed are 16 inches overall, if that much, and at nearly the same price as ours. We give you more for your money!
