You are bidding on an 8 x 10 black and white photograph of HMCS Bonaventure, Canada’s last Aircraft Carrier, which served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1957 to 1970. The Bonnie began life as the Royal Navy ship HMS Powerful in the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast on 27 November 1943. She was launched on 27 February 1945, but with the end of World War II her building was suspended until purchased by the Royal Canadian Navy in July 1952. After a major refit in 1967 she was sold by the Trudeau government to the scrap yards in 1970, however she still lives on in the hearts of Canadian sailors. Photograph one , an 8 x 10 shows an overhead overall port bow view. Item two is an 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing the ships crest, general characteristics, callsigns, her Aircraft Squadrons, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew. Item three is an 8 x 10 colour with a short history of the Bonnie, complete with the Squadron badges of her Air Squadrons, and a complete list of all her Commanding Officers. The photograph is an original modification of an existing photograph.
