Description

This is a rare 205 million year old reptile tooth found on the surface recently after it was exposed by heavy rains. It is from the quadrupedal reptile, Postosuchus sp, a basal Archosaur, Rauisuchian. This was one of the top predators of it's day. This large tooth measures approx. 1" in length. The preservation is good, although it is split in place & has some matrix in the gap. It is exactly as it was found but could be prepped to be a great specimen. This tooth should be useful for comparative study or for a collection. It was found in upper Triassic deposits (Norian age), in the Bull Canyon Formation, in Quay County, New Mexico near Tucumcari. There is a very low opening bid & no reserve. Good luck on this unusual specimen!!!
