HAWAIIAN WOOD PAHOA , early 19th. century, 25 1/2" in length, 3/4" thick, missing is the very tip (less than 1/2") of weapon, presumably due to age of wood, has a great patina, item has a slight curve, otherwise in v. good condition. This piece has been well cared for, purchased in 1979 from Mrs. Irma Boyen, the following statement is in part, a reciept from Mrs Boyen. "Found in a trunk, stored beneath my house in 1952 by my husband and I. My husbands mother was Lucy Maria Winne, great Grandaughter of Lucy G. and Asa Thurston, as were her sisters, Jane L. and Mary P. Winne. The above information came about through research with the help of my husband and members of the Winne fammily." It is with some regret that I sell this Item and will not begin to estimate it's value as a collectable of Hawaiiana, and have had a great deal of pleasure in caring for it, for the 29 years in my collection, there is another eBay listings a presumably "Rare Ancient Hawiian Dagger", it in part prompts me to show and sell what is an authenic Hawaiian Weapon. An interest I do still have is to continue building my Hawaiian Stone collection and will take in consideration as part trade, good quality AUTHENTIC Hawaiian Artifacts, details may be a little tricky but it can happen, don't bother with what you may have and know to be a repo, I just recently purchased for $720, via eBay, from a local Honolulu Gallery, a fake pounder, said to be "pre contact" and clearly showing metal tool marks. On Oct-13-08 at 07:48:19 PDT, seller added the following information:With careful evaluation of missing tip, I would estimate portion missing to be closer in the range of 1/4".
