Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary Nun Doll The Institute of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary was founded in Beziers, Southern France in 1849 by a saintly priest, Pere Gailhac. The Rule of the order was approved in 1899 by Pope Leo XII and Mother St. John, the first postulant, became known as the Foundress. Before the end of the 19th Century, these Religious were established in Ireland, Portugal, England, Spain and the United States. The central house in America is Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY. More information comes with the doll. This 16 inch doll with a porcelain head and breastplate, arms, legs and soft body is dressed in the habit of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary congregation. Her outfit, which is hand made by me, consists of a blue habit and a head coif and wimple of starched white linen. A short black transparent veil is worn: on formal occasions there is added a longer black veil. This doll has both. She wears a chemise, bloomers and slip. Her shoes are molded on her. Around her neck hangs a silver chain with crucifix and heart. She comes with her own stand and notecard. Made of porcelain she is not suitable for children. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me. International buyers please wait for shipping quote. God Bless !
