I am beginning to sell off some of my primitive pieces. This is a center piece used at a CDF retirement party held for Ernie Balmforth in 1982. It was most likely produced by one of the CDF honor camps by inmates. It is constructed of a slab of Manzanita wood as the base. The sign is a replica of our old CDF station signs and is made of Red Wood. The figure of Smokey Bear is made of some kind of chalk ware based on one of the Dakin Company's figures. He is pretty well done but looks a little grim to me. The base measures approx. 13" wide and it stands approx. 6" tall. The bear it's self stands about 5 1/2" tall. Over all this item is in very mint condition for it's age. He really needs a new home!
