Description

We are offering a pink velvet framed relic picture of St Therese of Lisieux. Overall, the frame measures 5.5 by 4 inches. The picture featured is a copy of the Oval Portrait painted by Therese's own sister in Carmel. The relic is a star shaped piece of gold cloth which is a third class relic, having touched three original relics of the Saint. There is a wooden easel on the back to display the item. St Therese is one of the most popular Saints of all time and lived only from 1873 to 1897. Her final nine years were spent in the obscurity of the strictly enclosed Carmel of Lisieux in Normandy. Here she wrote her book, The Story of a Soul, which has sold in tens of millions of copies and has never been out of print since it was published by her sisters. It has been translated into hundreds of languages and dialects. For the spiritual maturity shown in her life and book, she was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul II in 1997, the centenary of her death on 30th September. Her feast is observed the next day on 1st October.
