Description

This 1940 Loose-Wiles biscuit tin was made for the Sunshine Biscuit Company in New York City. The container is constructed in an octagonal shape, with a lid and handle, and was meant to hold 2 lbs. 8 oz. of biscuits. The tin measures 9 and one half inches by nine inches, and is three and one half inches in height. The lid of the tin features the Statue of Liberty, and the 8 sides contain various scenes from American history. There are a few minor discolorations on the lid, with some worn paint on the edges, but the overall condition of the tin is excellent, with one minor dent and no major scratches. The eight sides show “The Signing of the Constitution” 1787, “Pioneers Moving Westward” 1869, “The Meeting of the Railroads” 1869, “Daniel Boone in Kentucky“, “Dewitt Clinton opening the Erie Canal” 1825, “The Lewis and Clark Expedition”, “Early Steamboats on the Mississippi”, and “The Gold Rush of 1849
