FOR SALE IS THIS SUPERB - ANTIQUE - HAND CARVED, BONE NEEDLE CASE WITH A SEPARATED MEASURING TAPE COMPARTMENT. THIS NEEDLE CASE COMES WITH TWO BONE SEWING ITEMS!!! THE CARVING IS OF OUTSTANDING QUALITY ( SEE IMAGES )!!!!! THE OVERALL LENGTH IS : 13.8 cm. ( 5.43 inch. ). THE DIAMETER IS : 2 cm. ( 0.79 inch. ). THE SILK MEASURING TAPE IS DIVIDED INTO PARTS OF A SO CALLED “ELâ€. AN “EL†IS A DIMENSION OF LENGTH USED IN EUROPE ( MAINLY IN HOLLAND AND FRANCE ) DURING THE 19e CENT. THE LENGTH OF THE “EL†WAS ABOUT 68 cm. ( 26.75 inch. ). THERE SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE HANDLE MISSING TO WIND UP THE MEASURING TAPE ( SEE IMAGE ). I DON’T THINK IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM TO REPLACE THIS.
