Description

This is a very beautiful book with it's own slipcase.  It is in memoriam to "The Very Reverend Stanley Fiolek", a Catholic clergyman in Chicago.  He had served in various capacities during his lifetime.  In particular, he ministered to a large Polish-American Catholics.  Support for this Resolution came from several Polish Chicago politicians representing their constituencies.I purchased this item at an auction last year.  Although I cannot guarantee it's authenticity,  it would seem highly unlikely that this is a fraud. Please refer to the scanned images.  The resolution is contained in a very beautiful book with elaborate pages similar to the ornate documents prepared by the Church in past centuries. The  Resolution  was  signed by Mayor Richard J. Daley on January 17, 1958.  Mayor Daley ("Boss") was one of the most powerful Democratic  politicians in the 20th century.  He had a lot to do with  bringing in the vote for John F. Kennedy  in his successful run for the presidency.  Mayor Daley's  political "machine" was unique in  municipal politics  anywhere.  Mayor Daley was also much maligned  due to his handling of the  protesters outside the site of the Democratic  Presidential Convention. The book was also signed by every  Chicago City Council  alderman.  Many of these  alderman were  house-hold names to Chicagoans, and had  there own  strong power base.Autographs aside, this document may also be of interest to students of the Chicago Catholic Church. Thanks for looking.
