Untitled Document We have a very nice SINGER 201 Singer at it's Best Allocated, May 11, 1954 for Elizabeth, New Jersey 1954 It's not just another pretty singer, it is a 50 yr. old WORK HORSE This one is in super condition & is one of the nicest I have come across. What a shame it is today that most new items have such a short useful life. If taken care of this machine will easily work for your grandchildren. I'm sure you know all about the 201's or you wouldn't be here, but if not here is a little info. The 201 has a integrated motor that is very easy to maintain & no need to worry about replacing belts. This high torque motor runs at .7 amps & will compete with any of these machines with these big 1/15 hp motors that are low torque & run at twice the speed of a normal sewing machine. They are more like vacuum cleaner motors. Don't be fooled by those guys selling ploys. There are 3 sets of metal gears that drive this machine, which make it extremely tight. (If the machine sits unused for a long period of time, it may be necessary to run it for a couple minutes to soften up the grease, as it may be a bit sluggish on start up.) But that's easy. It has a rotary hook assembly with a drop-in bobbin that is very easy to change. Sometime I have trouble getting the bobbin in other machines with those little trap doors. This is a very simple machine to maintain. There should be no need to worry about the machine getting out of timing. It is very simple to oil. & the tension discs are completely exposed for easy cleaning. I am in the process of putting together a tip sheet for each machine I sell to help reduce the trips to the repair shop. I will also be here if you need help. Just don't ask me how to lay-out draperies. As you can see there is some very minimal wear & a few scratches. Over-all it is in great shape. I took high quality pictures which should show them clearly. Most of them only can be seen up close. I have really spent a lot of time on this one to get it running great. (I spend a lot of time on all of them). Okay, now for the nuts and bolts: Most machines go to the shop with a work order. A simple "clean & adjust" procedure can run from $75.00- $150.00 plus the cost of repairing or replacing malfunctioning parts can total $200.00 or more. This machine has been totally cleaned inside & out. All its high speed bearings (bushings) have been thoroughly cleaned out. I use a petroleum based cleaner and run the machine at low speed to soften up deposits of built up sewing machine oil & dirt. I then used 2 more applications of cleaner, running the machine at high speed for a couple of minutes between applications. After cleaning, these points were blown out with 150 PSI air pressure. Next, all of the oscillating contact points were blown out with an aerosol solvent. The hook assembly was removed, checked for damage, cleaned, and polished. The tensioner was removed, cleaned, & re assembled. Finally, I meticulously adjusted the machine, precisely setting the timing, needle position, presser foot, bobbin case spring, bobbin winder, motor belt, etc. After an exterior cleaning & an application of liquid wax, we're ready to go. *If a repair is needed in the future, I have an extensive inventory of replacement parts available.* I have included some pictures that will show a few of this machine's functions. The winner must contact me within 24 hrs after the auction has closed. Paypal payments should be made within 48 hrs or check payments received within 7 days. If you have a poor feedback record, please contact me to discuss. A negative feedback my not be your fault. I have tried to provide an honest description of this machine. I don't believe I have overlooked anything. If you have any questions or would like to request additional pictures, please just ask. Shipping to the lower 48 by USPS, Prority Mail, Insurance, & Delivery conformation will be about $40.00. I will give you a quote if you would like.
