U. S. Navy Constitution War of 1812 Decatur Original article from Century Magazine, Volume XLVI, July 1893, 15 pp. (loose), ten beautiful and detailed steel engravings. Good condition (two dog ears). Great account of Naval Action, "Laurels of the American Tar in 1812, Notes on American Seamanship and Gunnery, the Overweight of English-French Metal, and the Untrustworthiness of the English, Report of the Shannon's Victory over the Chesapeake." Article by Edgar S. Maclay. During the last half of the 19th century Harper's Weekly and Century Magazine Published many great articles on current and recent events in history, both national and international, the arts, World Travel and much more.
