This listing is for an authentic antique collector's sample of barb wire fencing. This wire features an Upham patent, and is called "Upham's Double Staple Barb" by collectors. This patent features two twisted together line wires. Barb is made of two "U" shaped lighter pieces of wire. One of these is placed around both line wires, and ends bent over-lapping. Second staple is placed over side of first, with ends between the two line wires. Points are then bent in opposite directions, locking barb on line wires. Wire sample is 18-1/4" in length. It retains some original galvanizing. There are three well spaced barbs, with one bent but no broken points. Wire is in very good used condition. This antique barbed wire sample is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve. Shipping will be $2.50, within the United States. Insurance if desired will be extra.
