This listing is for an authentic antique collector's sample of barb wire fencing. This wire features an Upham patent, and is called "Upham's Snail on Twisted Oval" by collectors. This patent features a heavy single line wire. Line wire is oval or half-round, and twisted. Barb is made of lighter wire, and is inserted over line wire, with ends wrapped together in a sworl resembling a snail. Wire sample is 18" in length. It shows use and exposure wear, with some pitting. There are six barbs, with no bent or broken points. Wire is in very good used condition. This antique barbed wire sample is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve. Shipping will be $2.50, within the United States. Insurance if desired will be extra.
