You are bidding on a new shoulder patch from the past. This is the same patch Pilots and NFO's proudly wore on their flight suits and jackets as they climbed into the mighty Tomcat. The squadron has transitioned to the Superhornet, and only the old timers have this patch. It was purchased prior to their transiton, and it is official. This patch is representative of the Pukin' Dogs time in the F-14 Tomcat. The Tomcat was flown by VF-143 from 1975-2005. The nickname is said to have come from a Vietnam War-era pilot who commented that the mythical griffon looked like a Pukin' Dog and the rest is history. VF-143 began as a Corsair squadron in 1949 and would do two tours in Korea and also serve over Vietnam. The squadron begin flying the F/A-18 Hornet in '05 and changed its designation to VFA-143. It also changed the patch design. Shipping costs shown here are for domestic mailing only.
