Ultra-Orange Fluorescent & Phosphorescent 5cm x 5cm Acrylic Detector Square contains a unique phosphor that activates when exposed to UVa or UVb or UVc Illumination, but peaks with UVB which is the Ultraviolet Light that is put out by Erythremal Dermatological Treatment Lamps and also Reptile - Serpentarium Lamps. If you mount this into your terrarium it will glow brightly in response to UVB and let you know when you are ' toasting' your little reptiles with too much Ultraviolet Light. Many persons have done so inadvertantly using Shortwave Ultraviolet SW UV lamps which will make these discs glow as Bright Orange as seen in the picture with Filtered SW 8 watt lamp. This detector is good for lab use to detect ANY Ultraviolet Illumination, as its Fluorescent / Phosphorescent sensitivity spans from 190nm to 460nm with peak at around 280nm to 320nm wavelengths. UVa gives a distinct Violet-Red responsive color and UVb & UVc both give from dull orange to Bright Glowing Orange Glow. These work like Optical Evaluation UV Meters if you as an MD or Dermatologist do skin treatments using Middlewave Ultraviolet Lamps.
