Alberto Vargas "September 1941" Calendar Girl Postcard This auction is for a reproduction postcard of the Varga Girl that appeared on the September page of the 1941 Esquire Magazine calendar. Alberto Vargas is undoubtedly the preeminent American pin-up girl artist. Vargas achieved worldwide fame during World War II when his "Varga Girls" were published in Esquire Magazine. His pin-ups were published as Gatefolds in the magazine and Calendar girls each year. Esquire put his illustrations on just about anything that they could sell beginning in 1940 and they haven't stopped since then. This Varga Girl postcard was published relatively recently. The painting was originally an Esquire calendar girl published in the 1941 calendar as Miss September. This was one of the first set paintings that Vargas did for Esquire. The 1941 calendar images were the first Vargas Girls published in an Esquire calendar which was printed at the end of 1940. This postcard is in excellent condition and dimensions are 4" by 6". This postcard is quite rare and will be a unique addition to your collection. No Reserve! Payment must be received within 10 days of the end of the auction.
