Alberto Vargas "October 1942" Gatefold Girl Postcard Alberto Vargas is undoubtedly the preeminent American pin-up girl artist. Vargas achieved worldwide fame during World War II when his "Varga Girls" were published in Esquire Magazine. His pin-ups were published as Gatefolds in the magazine and Calendar girls each year. Esquire put his illustrations on just about anything that they could sell beginning in 1940 and they haven't stopped since then. This Varga Girl postcard was published relatively recently. The painting was originally an Esquire gatefold girl published in the October 1942 issue of Esquire. This postcard is in mint condition and dimensions are 4" by 6". This postcard is quite rare and will be a unique addition to your collection. No Reserve! Payment must be received within 10 days of the end of the auction.
