vintagefaire Store Vintage Nativity Set 15 Pieces Presented on behalf of a local estate is this vintage nativity with stable and 14 accompanying pieces. This is my favorite nativity style due to the soft colors and gently detailed characters. There is a part of a newspaper in the bottom of the box in which this set was stored that is dated New Year's 1948. For that reason, I am dating this ensemble to the late 40's. The building measures 14-1/2" wide at the roof-line, 7-1/8" deep, and stands 9" tall. The frame is wood, painted with dark green textured paint. The one side of the stable appears to contain a music box that no longer works. The nails were loose from the base of this side, but I was able to press them back onto the base. Please be advised that the side with the short wall is loose and may need to be reglued. There are a total of 14 figures with this set. They include Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, 3 Kings, 2 Shepherds, 1 Angel, 1 Cow, 1 Donkey, and 3 Sheep. The tallest figure is the upright King at 4-7/8" tall, and the largest figure is the Cow at 4-7/8" long from tail to nose. The figures are made of a plaster-type material, and all have chips to the paint in varying degrees, particularly at the bases. Please look at the pictures carefully. Some have some paint loss to the faces, but overall, this group looks pretty good. The angel figure is cracked (see picture) but it does not appear that she will break apart. Care will be needed to insure no further damage. This is a nice set to add to Christmas decor, and is sure to be a favored attraction for years to come ~ Thank You for Looking I have tried to describe this item as accurately as possible.
