VINTAGE FRENCH BOXWOOD OCTOGONAL CORKSCREW Period: 1950's - Maker: most probably C & A Verpillat, Moirans (Jura), France Dimensions: 17.5cm - Fully Extended (see photo): 24cm Markings: MADE IN FRANCE (see photo) - Weight: 110g Condition: Very Good (no nicks, scratches or cracks) - Nice Patina   This "Tire-Bouchon a Mecanisme - Cloche" was very popular in France in the mid 50's, but fabrication stopped in 1972. All components - from top to bottom: handle, butterfly nut, octogonal bell-shaped body, Archimedes helicoidal wood screw and pointed steel screw - are in perfect working order.
