A lovely faux leather hankies & gloves case from the 1920's. The front features a faux water silk panel with printed verse and an embossed thatched cottage among trees. The verse reads: MAY THE HINGES OF FRIENDSHIP NEVER GROW RUSTY "TRUE FRIENDSHIP / CANNOT BE BOUGHT WITH GOLD / IT'S A TREASURE THAT NEVER / THROUGH LIFE GROWS COLD, / CONSTANT AND TRUE / IT REMAINS TO THE END / WHATEVER BETIDES / A FAITHFUL FRIEND." The dark brown faux leather opens to reveal a pink fabric lining that has three compartments. The condition is a little tired as one would expect from its age (please see photograph) but this would make a stylish addition to a vintage dressing table. Dimensions 21cm high x 12cm wide.
