Up for auction is a vintage 1930s Shields Compact in black enamel with a square of mother of pearl in the center. There are some age appropriate slight scratches but no major chips or gouges. It measures 3" square. It opens and closes easily. The inside has a beviled mirror. The lid of the powder case has an engine turned design and in a square in the center it says Shields. It is also marked Made in USA. The case has never held powder. The puff which has also never been used says Shield with a coat of arms stamped in gold. The strange marks seen in the photograph of the back of the compact is an indication of how well it reflects light. That is the green wall is my house. Both the mirror and the back are in good condition in spite of the photos. Please view my other auctions for more compacts, purses, and purse frames.
