For sale is a wonderful 1920's - 1930's Brass and Wood CLERK ON DUTY advertising sign. This sign was most likely used in a Bank, Railroad Station, or Luxury Hotel. The wood I believe is Walnut. The Brass plate on the front has a recessed slot where the individual who was on duty at the time could slide his name plate into. The letters are slightly embossed. The sign measures approx. 9 inches long by 3 inches high. This sign is in very good original condition. The brass surface does show some age associated pitting and discoloration. The wood surface also shows age associated wear - especially on the corners of the sign where some of the wood surface has actually worn away. This classy sign would be a great accent to a family office or Rec Room. Or if you are a small business owner this would be a great nostalgic conversational piece to display at your front desk.
