badkittysf Store Vintage La Florida Havana Cuba Bar Recipe Guide c1935 Click Photos to Enlarge Description ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~la florida bar cocktails recipe guide~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~bar located at obispo y monserrate in la habana, cuba.measures about 4 by 5 3/16 inches. 68 pages plus covers.written both in Spanish and in English.lovely art deco styling.no date of publication given... but with the art deco... and in introduction... mentions date of 1935 as though it were recent... thinking 1935 or circa then as date of publication.printed on brown stock paper... although there is browning to the paepr. many pages are dog eared... in small folds... please see photo... other signs of handling and wear but in overall very good condition.so according to at least one website, La Florida was Ernest Hemingway's favorite bar.his name is not mentioned as far as i can tell... but the booklet does have several recipes for daiquiris... including one calling for grapefruit juice and maraschino cherry (and sugar and other ingredients)... which hemingway like better because of the little or no sugar... he liked the sweetness of the maraschino instead of the graininess of the sugar...or something like that.... please don't take my word on that story. i was just trying to date this booklet.vintage ads for liquor products. local products such as snake skin and alligator articles. ss munargo steamship ad.recipes include but not limited to brandy daissyabsinthe dropbutterfly/absinthe frappegolden gatemofuco cocktailmiss joan ketchum special cocktailjosephine bakermary pickfordsummer welles special cocktail.peggy nilespisco punch.and much more.please don't hesitate should you have any questions or concerns.All items are Sold AS IS--many of these items are vintage and haven't seen daylight in years--being from estates.
