Description

Ola! (I'd say more, but my Spanish ain't too good!) At auction is this vintage hand-made feathercrafted picture of a colorful bird perched on a tree limb and mounted under glass in a finely-detailed hand-carved cedar wood frame. This labor-intensive picture was made in Mexico and is labled as such both on the front and on the back. The back (first scan) contains a legend entitled THE STORY OF MEXICAN FEATHERCRAFT which details how the Mexican Indians developed this ancient art form. They used feathers from wild birds, but the legend points out that these feathers are from domesticated stock and are not plumage from wild birds.  The bottom of the legend says CARTIMEX. The frame measures 17 inches by 9 1/2 inches. No date, but this appears to date to the mid-1900's and is a beautiful work of ethnic folk art, and would make a colorful addition to a collection, or a thoughtful gift. It is not a reproduction, but rather is an original, hand-made work of feathercraft art. Bidding starts at $19.99 with no reserve. Shipping is free anywhere in the USA. International buyers contact me for a shipping quote. Insurance of $1.70 is recommended and is an additional fee, as we cannot be responsible for safe delivery of this item once it gets into USPS hands. Payment is due 7 days from the end of the auction via money order or cashiers check.Thank you for viewing this vintage piece of handcrafted Mexican folk art, and enjoy the auction. Gracias, amigo!
