Up for auction is a very rare and much sought after, all Original, Coin-Operated, POPPERETTE Popcorn machine. The Popperette popcorn machine was made from the late 1940's until the middle to late 1950's. This Popperette includes the usually missing matching stand. Most of the early vending type popcorn machines did Not actually pop the popcorn, they were filled with already popped popcorn, which was kept warm by a light bulb, then dispensed when a coin was inserted into the machine. The Popperette is one of only two or three, coin operated popcorn machines, that actually pop the popcorn. The Popperette operates on a dime. The glass bowl on the top would be filled with Unpopped popcorn. When a dime is inserted into the coin entrance on the top of the Popperette, some of the unpopped popcorn, from the glass bowl on the top, would be dropped into the stainlesss steel popping basket, that you can SEE thru the front 'window'. The stainless steel popping basket then lowers into hot cooking oil and you actually "WATCH IT POP"! When all the popcorn is popped the stainless steel popping basket Throws the popped popcorn into the holding kettle on the front of the Popperette. You then take a bag (held in a built in container on the left side of the Popperette--bags are 3 1/2"x2"x6 1/2"), open it up, place it under the holding kettle, turn the black knob on the front of the holding kettle, and the freshly popped corn is dispensed into your bag!!! This Popperette even has its Original salt shaker, in its Original holder, to then salt your fresh popcorn to taste! This Popperette is completely Original and has never been restored. Much of the Original paint is in excellent shape with a few scratches. If you look at the close up pictures, you will see there is some rust along the bottom of the machine, in the front, where it contacts the stand. The Popperette and its matching stand have all Original locks and keys, and even the Original cash box and lock and key are there! I am including copies of the original literature, manual, instructions, new decal for the front (that says "Popperette" and has the instructions for the customer) and all other available literature for the Popperette, that I bought at a cost of close to $100. This Popperette is a Working machine, but it does need an adjustment on the thermostat, and the amount of unpopped corn that is dropped (how to do these adjustments is spelled out in the included manual). The dimensions of the Popperette and stand are: Total Height is 65", the stand is 15" wide, 35" tall, 17 1/2" deep...the machine is 30" high including the glass bowl (20" high without the glass bowl), 14 1/2" wide and 17" deep. I'm guessing the total weight at 75 pounds. Popperette popcorn machines don't come available very often, this one is all cleaned up, All Original, and Working.....don't miss this chance to own one of these great 1950's machines! The Popperette will have to be crated for shipping and I'd recommend Craters and Freighters to do the crating. All crating and shipping expenses are the Buyers responsibility. Payment is due within 10 days after the auction ends by Cashiers Check or Money Order. Take a good look at all the pictures I've included then feel free to email me with any questions you have at: seattlechw@aol.com I've been doing ebay for 9 or 10 years now and my feedback rating is 100% so bid with confidence. Thank You for taking a look and good luck bidding.
