The bowl fans out into a scalloped design and taper downto a raised fluid floral design of springtime's soft violet/blue bluebells (?). This designed is mirrored in the matching saucer. The china teacup is overlayed with bluebells and a light "leafy" pattern on a bone china white background. The handle, with its interesting curves and handpainted gold leaf accent is designed like an arrow - jutting out and then delicately folds back onto the base of the teacup. The teacup is rimmed in gold and red/rust detailling as is the saucer. The saucer has a very detailed scalloped edge trimmed in gold with a raised porcelain detail just below the outter rim (see images). Uncommon in this state. Truly delicate & most fine! COLORS: The set is bone china white with a rich rust/red border and gold gilt trim; its decoration is rose pink, violet, with a hint of soft green. SIZE: The delicate cup's mouth has a diameter of about 2 1/2.” The saucer is about 5" in diameter. CONDITION: Excellent Antique Vintage Condition (no chips, cracks, loss of detail (rubbing), crazing or repairs) - detailing is bright. There is some old sticker residue present - set needs some cleaning.     HALLMARK INFO Weimar (in a shield). Germany Circa 1918 -1945. C & E Carstens Porcelain Factory. "The Weimar porcelain factory - well over 200 years old is only preceeded in age by the German porcelain factory of Meissen. Weimar was established in 1790 when Catherine the Great – the former German princess and then Russian czarina – commissioned Christian Andreas Speck to create porcelain for her. The company, in fact, bore the name SPECK at its inception - it wasn’t until 1830 when it was changed to Weimar to reflect the district in which it was located. Weimar became known for its lavish use of gold and cobalt and ornate surface decoration. Between world wars, Germany was known as the Weimar Republic. The porcelain factory ceased production during the second world war for the only time in its history. Weimar has long enjoyed a royal following, particularly among Russian czars and Mid-Eastern rulers. The famous poet Goethe was a devout Weimar fan. It is writ that on his way to rendezvous with a local countess, he often stopped at the factory to purchase a porcelain gift of which he penned: “The porcelain is good, better than others, and not more expensive.” Not effusive, perhaps, but testimonial nonetheless and a tribute which rings true today. Today, the factory remains small; producing only about 100,000 pieces a year."      SUBJECT - CATEGORY SUBJECT - CATEGORY Antiques| Decorative Arts| Ceramics | Porcelain | Cups | Saucers | Bone China | Translucent | 1900| 1910 | 1920 |1930| 1940 |1950 | Tea Coffee Chocolate Cups | Saucers | Plates | Vintage China Pottery | 20th Century | Collectable | Blankenhainer Porzellanfabrik C.&E.
