•WILLIAM McKINLEY as PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.  Unusual Typewritten Letter Signed “W. McKinley” while presidential candidate, 1/3 page, 8vo [8-1/4 in. x 5-5/16 in.], on stationery imprinted with his name and address, Canton, Ohio, March 18, 1896.  Only three months prior to the Republican Convention where he was nominated for President on the first ballot, he writes David Pell Secor in Bridgeport, Conn.: “For your encouraging letter of the 17th inst. please accept my sincere thanks.”  Two ink corrections in McKinley’s hand.  Affixed to same size album page.  Mounting traces at outer edges, with light age-toning, otherwise in good condition.  Letter bears a large McKinley signature.  Ideal for display.   Ohio’s favorite son William McKinley [1843-1901], the twenty-fifth President of the United States [Republican, 1897-1901] was assassinated by anarchist Leon Czolgosz.  He had been elected to the presidency in 1896 primarily because of his vow to restore prosperity to the nation.   As President, he presided over the U.S. victory in the Spanish-American War and the acquisition of a sprawling overseas empire.  He was a champion of high tariffs and the gold standard.   He served in the Union Army throughout the Civil War, and took his seat in the U.S. Congress in 1877, serving until 1891 when he ran for Governor of Ohio.           ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~    TERMS: NO PAYPAL   Authenticity Guaranteed.  Certificate of Authenticity [COA] is provided if requested.    Worldwide shipping is via USPS Registered Mail [insured]: Domestic shipments @ $10.00, International shipments @ $15.00   Buyer agrees to confirm purchase by responding within three [3] days of our winning e-mail notification.   All New York State residents are required to pay the 8-3/8 % sales tax.  Payment should be made by money order, cashier’s check, or personal check within 10 days of the closing date of the auction.    All international purchases must be paid in United States Dollars.     IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE: Worldwide payment accepted by International Postal Money Order, or by a check drawn on an American bank.  [Sorry ~ NO PayPal, no bank transfers and no credit cards].  If in doubt contact us before bidding.       We do not participate in the ebay checkout option    We NEVER use the Second Chance Offer.   You can always contact us direct via e-mail at Jameslowe@covad.net    CARD PHOTOGRAPH SIZES: Carte-de-Visite Photographs are about 4 inches by 2-3/8 inches.
