WWI BRITISH RECRUIT POSTER SCOTTISH SOLDIERS KILT Up for sale is a new print of a British World War I poster showing four Scottish soldiers marching in Kilts. The mood is casual—the men are laughing, looking at each other—in fact, one soldier is carrying his rifle upside down. The poster was designed in 1917 to encourage Scotsmen to join the British Army. Camaraderie is the very simple message; join because your friends are joining. The headline above reads: “Line Up, Boys!†The caption below reads: “Enlist Today.†The artist of the poster is unknown. The original lithograph on which this digital reprint was done in 1915 for the London Parliamentary Recruiting Committee.
