This is a newspaper clipping from the Evening Star, Washington, D.C., June 11th, 1963. The headline is Crowd Cheers as Big Bells Reach Cathedral Grounds. It was taken from Page 2 of the newspaper. The reverse side shows the beginning of a news story about two negro students enrolling at the university of Alabama. That story begins: "Gov. George C. Wallace defied Federal authorities by refusing to permit the integration of the University of Alabama, but a Justice Department official said two Negro students will be registered today despite the Governor's stand ..." I found this clipping in an old book and felt that someone associated with the Cathedral might like to own it. The partial story on the other side gives a little of the spirit of the times. The clipping is creased in several places and a little tattered at the bottom edge. Please note that I am located in Canada. This will be mailed right away by letter mail, but it will take several days to get there.
