The piece is solid, excellent condition, coloured meticulously and shows all of the veins and grooves of the actual tooth. One side fashions a portrait of Daniel Christian with his name in scroll work, as well as military flags in war display. The other side has the date "1840", a very intricate scrimshaw of a sun, a flower basket and scroll work. The item dimensions are as follows and approximate - 9.5 inches in height 1.75 inches in diameter. This item does not violate US Customs Marine Mammals Wildlife Laws. This is a very high quality reproduction piece. No animal in any way was harmed in the making of this scrimshaw.
