I think the beautifull case is  mahogany. I believe the clock is some where between 30 and 60 years old. The interesting thing about the clock is the movement, it being a year running fuzee clock. The movement is German and I think the case also. I had two other wall clocks 35 years ago with the same type German movements, year running. Getting back to the case wood, the secondary wood is that funny looking oak wood you see from Europe and also the seat board fastend to the bottom of the movement is the same. The movement and seat board sits forward of the uprights that support it. But there is a shadow on the bottom of the seat board to show it was always sitting in that position. The four side holes drilled in the two upright support boards do not show any evidence of being used. Clocks sold by jewelers like this one where made in small batches and this one is stamped in the case several places with the number 246 & 243 & 242, they obviously mixed there case parts when building them. The clock runs most of the time, but I know that large main spring has to come out of its shell to be cleaned and regreased to keep this clock running, please keep that in mind. The winding key has a double horse shoe on it wich matches the makers mark on the back of the movement. The clock is between a grandmother and a grandfather size clock. The clock is 76"inches tall, 10"inch deep and 16 inches wide at the widest part of the hood. If  I have to build a wood crate to ship the clock, figure $125.00 and what ever it cost to ship it by truck or air is additional.
